    Siege and Storm: Book Review

It’s almost the end of January, and here’s a review for my tenth book of the year! Siege and Storm really surprised me this time, seeing as I had low expectations, but ended up really loving it? I annotated this less than I did Shadow and Bone, but that is also partially due to the fact that I ran out of blue (Nikolai) sticky tabs 🙁 But without further ado, here’s the review. SIEGE AND STORM — ★★★★ Goodreads Synopsis: Soldier. Summoner. Saint. Alina Starkov’s power has grown, but not without a price. She is the Sun Summoner—hunted across the True Sea, haunted by the lives she took on the…

    Shadow and Bone: Book Review

I can’t believe I reread Shadow and Bone for a third time, but hey, here’s a book review for it. I read this over two weeks, and I made so many annotations in the book with my thoughts, so hopefully I have a thorough understanding of it now? SHADOW AND BONE — ★★★★ Goodreads Synopsis: Surrounded by enemies, the once-great nation of Ravka has been torn in two by the Shadow Fold, a swath of near impenetrable darkness crawling with monsters who feast on human flesh. Now its fate may rest on the shoulders of one lonely refugee. Alina Starkov has never been good at anything. But when her regiment is…

    Capturing the Devil: Book Review

Finally, the grand finale of the Stalking Jack the Ripper books. Of course, I had to pitch in my two cents with a book review. To be completely honest, I thought that I wouldn’t like this book as much as the first two. The beginning (well, all the way up to 70%) was very romance-y and cheesy, and didn’t have the gruesome murders that I expected. I expected it to be a 3-star read, but my mind was changed soon after because at 70% through, things start happening, fast. CAPTURING THE DEVIL – ★★★★ Audrey Rose Wadsworth and Thomas Cresswell have landed in America, a bold, brash land unlike the genteel…

Pride and Prejudice: Book + Movie Review

So… Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen. If you haven’t heard of this book yet, what have you been doing with your life? (jkjk) I really don’t think I have much to say that’s different from everyone else, since this is literally a classic that has been out in the world for more than 200 years, but I just wanted to give my two cents. Some spoilers ahead, so don’t keep reading if you’re living under a rock and don’t know the plot yet. PRIDE AND PREJUDICE (Book) – ★★★★ Goodreads Synopsis: Since its immediate success in 1813, Pride and Prejudice has remained one of the most popular novels in the English…

    Escaping From Houdini: Book Review

I devoured this book in one night, literally. I read this book nonstop from 12am to 6am, and now it’s 7:30am and I’m sleep deprived but so ready to talk about this book. ESCAPING FROM HOUDINI – ★★★★ Goodreads Synopsis: Audrey Rose Wadsworth and her partner-in-crime-investigation, Thomas Cresswell, are en route to New York to help solve another blood-soaked mystery. Embarking on a week-long voyage across the Atlantic on the opulent RMS Etruria, they’re delighted to discover a traveling troupe of circus performers, fortune tellers, and a certain charismatic young escape artist entertaining the first-class passengers nightly. But then, privileged young women begin to go missing without explanation, and a series of…

Stalking Jack the Ripper and Hunting Prince Dracula: Book Review

Happy new year everyone! As a part of my new year’s resolution, I want to post at least two reviews here every month, so i reflect more about what I read. I decided to group the first two books of SJTR in one review because… well, I was too lazy to separate them, and all my thoughts have become merged. I’ll keep the review for SJTR in the first half, and HPD in the second half, and there will be no spoilers for either book, i promise! Without further ado, here’s some of my thoughts on Stalking Jack the Ripper and Hunting Prince Dracula by Kerri Maniscalco! STALKING JACK THE…
