    Ruin and Rising: Book Review

Do I… even have thoughts on this book? I’ve got to say, this was better than I expected, but still managed to disappoint me a little. That may have been influenced by the fact that I already knew the ending from a year ago, since I decided to skip this book and go straight into Six of Crows when I first read the Grishaverse. And I also may or may not have read the Fandom Wiki pages, so the plot twists at the end didn’t surprise me as much as they were meant to. But all in all, I enjoyed Ruin and Rising much more than I planned to! Title: Ruin…

    Siege and Storm: Book Review

It’s almost the end of January, and here’s a review for my tenth book of the year! Siege and Storm really surprised me this time, seeing as I had low expectations, but ended up really loving it? I annotated this less than I did Shadow and Bone, but that is also partially due to the fact that I ran out of blue (Nikolai) sticky tabs 🙁 But without further ado, here’s the review. SIEGE AND STORM — ★★★★ Goodreads Synopsis: Soldier. Summoner. Saint. Alina Starkov’s power has grown, but not without a price. She is the Sun Summoner—hunted across the True Sea, haunted by the lives she took on the…

    Shadow and Bone: Book Review

I can’t believe I reread Shadow and Bone for a third time, but hey, here’s a book review for it. I read this over two weeks, and I made so many annotations in the book with my thoughts, so hopefully I have a thorough understanding of it now? SHADOW AND BONE — ★★★★ Goodreads Synopsis: Surrounded by enemies, the once-great nation of Ravka has been torn in two by the Shadow Fold, a swath of near impenetrable darkness crawling with monsters who feast on human flesh. Now its fate may rest on the shoulders of one lonely refugee. Alina Starkov has never been good at anything. But when her regiment is…

review: how the king of elfhame learned to hate stories

SPOILER-FREE REVIEW OF HOW THE KING OF ELFHAME LEARNED TO HATE STORIES BY HOLLY BLACK My rating: ★★★★☆ (4/5 stars). It complied to the vibe of the original trilogy, and made me understand most of Cardan’s actions in Cruel Prince. Also, the Alice in Wonderland book is mentioned and it made my heart aCHE because this is definitely a case of nature vs nurture. But it just didn’t live up to all the expectations that I imposed on it? Which is why I probably shouldn’t have such high expectations for any book 😳 And if you’re wondering why I’m posting a review before the book is even released, it’s because Amazon…

    review: the last wish

SPOILER-FREE REVIEW OF THE LAST WISH BY ANDRZEJ SAPKOWSKI My rating: ★★★✦☆ 3.5/5 stars —  as a witcher tv show and games fan, i definitely had a head-start in getting to know the characters, the plot and the world. while the book was entertaining, some of the short stories were quite slow-paced and had a looooot of descriptions, which made me want to fall asleep… all in all, i enjoyed the book because i already knew most of the plot, but it may be boring or confusing to someone who is new to the world of the witcher. here are my thoughts on each of the short stories: the voice of…
